Project Overview
Spectrum is an app for people living on the autistic spectrum to create a customized profile that describes where they fit on the spectrum and bridges the gap of understanding between others with limited knowledge of the condition.

Problem Situation
Having lived on the spectrum for most of my life, I've often found it remarkable that so little of the population knows exactly what Aspergers or similar disorders actually are. If there are a lot of people who exhibit the traits that are associated with the condition, why isn't there a significant amount of support for this minority group? I believe if there was a better way to communicate what challenges this group has to face, then any stigma against them will fade away. All you really need is the right tool to make a difference.

What started off as a social media awareness campaign acted as the jumping-off point for the eventual conception of SPECTRUM as a potential product.

Open Market
Surprising, with all the research done on the subject, there was no application that could do what I wanted to accomplish. Much of the support groups and organizations centred around providing assistance to those who are on the spectrum, but there had yet to be a service that could map out where one would in that spectrum particularly. This means that it's an open market to tackle with a potentially good userbase.

Promotional Video Concept

A promotional video for SPECTRUM was created to entice a potential user base.

Proposed colour scheme and logo for SPECTRUM app home screen.

Appearances
In order to set itself apart from pre-existing Autistic-related organizations, I needed the visual appeal of SPECTRUM to stand out when you look at it.
- High Contrast
- Modern font face
- Use of the colour spectrum
- Keep the Infinity logo
- Near black for a professional impression

Learning Outcomes
- Have as much knowledge of your potential audience to maximize effective design practice.
- Audience can be unpredictable when it comes to implementing new concepts, must learn to adjust.
- You might have a good idea because of your beliefs, but sticking to them won't solve every problem you face.
- It's critical to experiment in the early stages to minimize the changes later on.
